Hayden Martis’ minimalist lamp, Tension, is made of aluminum and has a simple and captivating design. The geometric shape consists of a cylinder as the base and a circle as the lamp. With the help of this simple shape, Hayden manages to create a sculptural lighting design that creates an atmosphere of tension.
Hayden Martis is a New Zealand-born, London-based designer producing editioned objects. His work is characterized by the pursuit of balance through the exploration of limits in materiality, physicality, and possibility. He produces works of intrigue, individuality, and precision through an international network of artisans, engineers, and fabrication specialists.
Hayden received an honors degree in Industrial Design from Massey University, Wellington, New Zealand before residing and working in Melbourne, Shanghai, London, and Berlin over the past decade – traveling extensively through Asia and Europe before returning to London in March 2016 to establish Hayden Martis Studio.
