The exhibition “Ellsworth Kelly. Shapes and Colors, 1949-2015” offers a comprehensive overview of the work of the American artist Ellsworth Kelly (1923-2015). The exhibition comprises over 100 of his works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and collages.
Ellsworth Kelly is known for his monochrome and abstract works, which are characterized by an intense exploration of form, color and space. The exhibition invites visitors to break down the simplicity of his artistic expression and explore the subtle complexity of his works.
The exhibition features key works from all phases of his career, including early paintings such as “Tableau Vert” (1952) as well as important series such as “Chatham” and “Spectrum” and the large-format floor painting “Yellow Curve” (1990). The show also includes lesser-known plant drawings and photographs.
The retrospective was created in collaboration with the Glenstone Museum and the Ellsworth Kelly Studio and is presented as part of the traveling exhibition “Ellsworth Kelly at 100”. It offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore Kelly’s experimental approach and his ability to create powerful emotional effects through simple abstractions.
