Art Gallery of New South Wales

The Art Gallery of New South Wales is one of Australia’s most prestigious art museums and the leading visual arts institution in the state of New South Wales. Its mission is focused on promoting artists and creating a center of excellence for the collection, preservation, documentation, interpretation and exhibition of both Australian and international art. It also serves as a forum for scholarship, arts education and the exchange of ideas.

In 2024, the two buildings were given names from the Aboriginal language: Naala Badu for the North Building and Naala Nura for the South Building. With its vision of being a beacon of art in Australia, the museum strives to enrich people’s lives through meaningful encounters with art and to reflect and explore the diverse perspectives of their position in the global context.
