The Ambra Toba light sculpture by davidpompa is a modern and minimalist pendant lamp. It is characterized by its straightforward design language and the combination of distinctive materials, which gives it a characteristic and contemporary aesthetic.
A central element of this new series of light sculptures is the Mexican “Toba volcánica” (also known as Cantera), an exclusive rock that was formed a million years ago during severe volcanic eruptions. It consists of a mixture of minerals, glass and volcanic debris and is mined exclusively in Mexico and Central America.
Its remarkable color variations give it a special aesthetic and lend each luminaire a unique character. The contrast between porous textures and texturized black metal underlines the studio’s contemporary approach to traditional materials and craft. Each luminaire is made by hand in Mexico.
Located in Mexico City, studio davidpompa has been dedicated to creating remarkable, handmade pieces since its beginnings. The designs are made with the utmost care and attention, each telling its own story. In this way, they skillfully bridge the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
Each piece reflects the studio’s commitment to materials deeply rooted in Mexican culture, combining clean lines, natural finishes, and a timeless aesthetic. The Ambra pendant is a beautiful example of how the combination of different materials and textures can create a timeless and incredibly aesthetic lighting sculpture. It is available in various designs and colors.
