Azuki Chair by CP RV

The Azuki Chair is a minimalist chair from the design studio CP RV, which is characterized by its clean lines and reduced aesthetics. Imagined for a solo show in Tokyo at Licht gallery, Azuki is inspired by the bar seatings in Tokyo’s restaurants and has a practical storage space under the seat.

The design language of the chair combines a geometric look with functional aesthetics reminiscent of the designs of Donald Judd. The backrest and seat are placed to gently lean against the horizontal and vertical structure of solid red pine. Despite the reduced design, the inclination of the backrest ensures a comfortable seating experience.

The Azuki Chair is available in two finishes: natural red pine and a dark red tone reminiscent of traditional Japanese pastries. It is available and produced by Licht gallery and crafted in Japan.

Studio CP RV, founded by Camille Paillard and Romain Voulet, works between London and Marseille and is known for its intuitive approach to contemporary design. With a focus on simplicity, utility and materiality, the studio creates products that enrich modern lifestyles.

Imagined for our solo show in Tokyo at Licht gallery, Azuki is a nod to ramen bars seatings which are often accompanied with a basket, offering a place to put the things we carry.
