With his solo exhibition Abstract Problems, Enrich. R (b. 2001) presents a poetic reflection on the act of painting starting at the Circle Culture Gallery in Berlin. Known for his abstract and minimalist works inspired by artists such as Mark Rothko, Antoni Tàpies, and Gerhard Richter, the young artist examines the materiality, rhythm, and uncertainties inherent in painting through this exhibition.
Born in 2001 in Igualada, Spain, Enrich. R develops his works through an intuitive layering process: colors flow over each other, organic and abstract forms emerge, are discarded, and rediscovered. Using this technique, the young artist creates complex surfaces that invite the viewer into a dialogue between form and emptiness, control and spontaneity, time and imperfection. This engagement with the surface – worn, textured, and layered – is a central aspect of his work.
He primarily works on untreated canvases and reclaimed materials, creating a distinctive tension between expressive gestures and restrained minimalism. Earthy, muted tones reflect the natural environment of his hometown, Igualada. His paintings are born out of moments of doubt and decision-making on the canvas. Every line and brushstroke becomes a response, an adjustment, a negotiation between intuition and deliberation.
Curated by Johann Alexis von Haehling, this exhibition showcases how “problems in abstraction” can transform into a creative force. In a time dominated by visual and informational overload, Enrich. R creates a quiet and introspective space with this exhibition. His paintings invite viewers to pause, to perceive the nuanced dialogues between material and process, and to explore the aesthetics of openness and the unfinished.
We’ll be on-site to cover the exhibition.
