From October 3 to November 1, 2024, Galerie Nordenhake Stockholm will present the exhibition “The Mountain, the Cloud and the Springs” by the artist John Zurier. This show is a profound reflection on the relationship to nature and combines thoughts on abstraction, painting and poetry.
Zurier, who was born in Santa Monica in 1956 and now works in Berkeley, California, and Reykjavik, Iceland, focuses on the examination of materials and brushwork, the modulation of surfaces, atmospheric effects and close value color tonalities and harmonies. His works are an expression of tranquility and contemplation and explore the relationship between proximity and distance, weather, weathering, seasons and the passing of time.
With this exhibition, Zurier continues his exploration of the subtle and often fleeting beauty of nature and artistic tradition, building a bridge between the sublime and the tangible in each work.
