Maya Makino, Woo Byoung yun: Plus & Minus

The duo exhibition “PLUS & MINUS” at The Untitled Void gallery presents the works of the two artists Maya Makino and Woo Byoung Yun, who explore nature as a common theme.

Maya Makino (b. 1980, Japan) is an artist whose work is characterized by a unique devotion to the color Indigo. Her paintings are deeply rooted in personal memories and sensations that she draws from her past. These memories are superimposed in a subtle accumulation of invisible layers of indigo blue.

Woo Byoung Yun’s (b. 1988, Korea) creative process is informed by deep philosophical reflection on the nature of matter and its significance in art and life. The artist applies several layers of plaster and paint to the canvas and then removes some of these layers in the form of lines.

These contrasting methods reflect the individual artistic philosophies of the two artists and offer viewers different approaches to exploring nature and its diversity.
