“F” is a minimalist lava stone side table designed by Studio Buzao. The studio is a branch of the experimental brand BENTU and has focused on design experiments with innovative materials and forms since 2017.
The F side table stands out for its aesthetic combination of lava stone and modern industrial design. Crucial to its stability is the volcanic stone that acts as the tabletop and base of the piece of furniture. Machine processing keeps the top of the lava stone smooth while leaving the bottom in its original, natural state.
The combination of natural and artificial beauty is shown in the coexistence of these two different states of the same material. The structure of the stone fixture has the shape of an industrial tool – an F-bracket.
The black aluminium squares can be interlocked, making it possible to adjust the height of the tabletop. The spiral parts of the table are made of pure copper, giving the design object an exquisite charm.
Studio Buzao is led by designer Peng Zeng, who dedicates the brand to material research and the interaction of form, light, and environment. Buzao aims to break away from artificial creations and let the material guide the design, bringing out the material’s distinctive qualities. This design approach is exemplified in the F side table, which impressively masters the tightrope walk between naturalness and artificial sophistication.
