The Fungi lamp collection by Guilherme Wentz is a unique series of minimalist luminaires inspired by the world of mushrooms. The collection is a tribute to their ecological kingdom and their importance in maintaining life in the forest. It represents a harmonious fusion between natural beauty and technology.
The design of the lamp is characterized by its reduced formal language. The construction consists of a cylindrical base and a sleek lampshade, which gives the lamp an elegant appearance. Each shade is fitted with a very thin LED panel, while the handmade glass emphasizes the textures and organic shape of the pieces.
The collection includes several models and versions, including the portable Fungi mini lamp. It is powered by a USB battery that allows for up to 20 hours of use. It consists of an aluminum body which is available with liquid paint and a matte “soft-touch” varnish in different colors. Its soft, indirect light is adjustable in three light intensity levels, allowing for flexible use, creating harmonious atmospheres.
Behind the creative vision of this collection is designer Guilherme Wentz, founder of WENTZ Studio. Specializing in furniture, lighting and home accessories, Guilherme Wentz celebrates the essence of “terra brasilis” by transforming living spaces into contemplative extensions of nature. His designs explore concepts and forms found in nature, as is the case with the Fungi lighting collection. He often uses hand-blown glass, wood, marble and brass in his designs, using them in unique juxtapositions to achieve unconventional results.
I had the opportunity to interview him and talk to him about design, aesthetics and his design process. Read the interview here.
