GT02 Lamp is a minimalist table lamp designed by the Californian architecture and design firm Garcia Tamjidi. It is a testament to the subtle fusion of aesthetics and functionality.
Inspired by origami, the GT02 uses the art of folding to create a harmonious connection between line, surface and light. In doing so, it is more than just a light source – it acts as an aesthetic, sculptural work of art. The metal body and the soft light create an interesting field of tension: with the help of a fiber optic laser, a sheet of aluminum was cut and then shaped into the desired form. The light of the LED bulb, which remains hidden inside the metal body, falls on an inclined plane at the base and shines in a soft and warm light.
The surface of the lamp has a satin anodized finish that further softens the light. The design enhances the beauty of this ordinary everyday object, making the lamp an integral part of the interior design.
The studio is most notable for its minimalist design concepts. With clean lines, strict right angles and rounded volumes, founders Michael Garcia and Farid Tamjidi create airy spaces that combine light with rich textures and smooth surfaces. The creative duo, who met during their studies, always follow their philosophy of understanding space as a composition of time, place, form and material. The GT02 lamp is just one example of their work, which is always characterized by this creative dialogue.
