Galerie Lelong & Co., founded by Aimé Maeght in 1945, is one of the most prestigious galleries for modern and contemporary art.
In its early days, the gallery presented icons such as Joan Miró, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti and Francis Bacon. After Maeght’s death in 1981, the gallery took on its present structure and has operated locations in Paris and, since 1985, in New York.
The gallery’s program focuses on international modern and contemporary art. Artists whose work is exhibited and represented includes those with a minimalist aesthetic such as Sean Scully, Eduardo Chillida, Günther Förg and Arnulf Rainer. In addition to museum-like exhibitions, the gallery organizes large-scale public art projects and supports artists in realizing such works. The gallery is also an active publisher of contemporary prints, multiples, artistic writings and catalogues raisonnés.
