Gallery 57 was opened by artist Ann Symes in March 2016. The gallery regularly hosts carefully curated, themed exhibitions that showcase the work of local, national and international artists and makers. Particular attention is paid to artists who demonstrate innovative methods in their use of materials and techniques, resulting in an exciting and diverse range of art.
The gallery is known for its calm aesthetic, which is created by the well-thought-out presentation of the works. Ann’s studio is linked to the gallery where she sometimes works when the gallery is open. Previous exhibitors include notable artists such as Yohge Matsuda, Maya Makino, Alexandra Yan Wong and Amanda Duggan, all of whom have contributed to the gallery’s unique identity.
