The Langen Foundation is an exhibition house initiated and donated by Marianne Langen, located on a former NATO base in the Lower Rhine countryside. This visionary project, developed by Karl-Heinrich Müller from 1994 onwards, combines art and nature in a unique synthesis. The Japanese architect Tadao Ando designed the building, which was opened in 2004 and is integrated into the natural features of the site.
The spatial concept comprises three exhibition areas with a total of 1,300 square meters, including a long, narrow Japan room and two rooms for the modern collection that are sunk deep into the ground. The building is near the Hombroich Museum Island.
