SCAI The Bathhouse is a renowned contemporary art gallery housed in a 200-year-old former bathhouse in Tokyo’s historic Yanaka neighborhood. Close to Ueno, a cultural center with museums and art schools, the gallery combines the atmosphere of old Tokyo with innovative art. Since its founding in 1993, the gallery has promoted major artists such as Toshikatsu Endo and Mariko Mori, whose works have received international acclaim, and established emerging talents such as Kohei Nawa and Reijiro Wada globally. In collaboration with the gallery, artists such as Anish Kapoor and Darren Almond have created new works inspired by Japanese culture.
