Valai Chair by Murubi

The Valai chair from the Indian design and production company Murubi is a minimalist chair that harmoniously combines aesthetics and functionality.

The chair is characterized by its clean, simple design language. Valai means “curve” in the Tamil language and thus refers to the curved backrest, which comfortably hugs the body and ensures a comfortable sitting position. The round seat and angular legs, which are inclined outwards, offer optimum stability.

The production of Valai requires a combination of hands and machines. It is carefully crafted with dowels and half-lap joints so that it will last for years of daily use. The parts of the chair are CNC-milled and then assembled and finished by experienced craftsmen. Valai is stackable, which is a practical advantage when setting up and in everyday use.

The second, upholstered version of the Valai provides additional seating comfort. The soft, removable, and washable upholstery is available in several colors and can be changed as desired.
